Russ Amos started "Wood By Design" in 1999, after working 25 years as a Commercial Sales Engineer for the Carrier Air Conditioning Company.

He saw a need for a small company that could provide custom wood projects. Not wanting  to do the same thing everyday, he does things that larger companies don't want to do.  He has made small boxes, and bases for trophies, all the way to book cases and cabinets for large kitchens and bathrooms.

To keep costs down for the buyer, he allows the home owner or a general contractor they choose do the installation work.  He also provides simple services such as custom cutting or planing wood that customers bring him because they do not have the equipment to do it.
