About the Guild Workshop

We Recycle! If you drink a Soda Pop in a can, please Crush your can with the can crusher to the Left of the Refrigerator, & Drop the crushed can in the blue trash can below the crusher.

Thank You!

Wood in the Guild Workshop

Please bring your own wood to the workshop if you plan on making something there.  The wood in the workshop is not free, scrap, or trash.  This wood has been purchased for the KCWG classes  & workshops being offered that may or may not have a materials fee.  If you working on a project and you are not enrolled in a class at the time your project needs to be removed at the end of the Open Shop or it may be subjected to loss or damage.

Let’s be like the Boy Scouts!

If you attend a meeting, a SIG, an open shop, a class, a clinic, a workshop, a guild project, a guild community event, or even a regular meeting...   we all need to have ownership in keeping the Guild facility clean, neat, and ready for the next event. We will be having a very busy year at the Guild so if we all do a little to keep it nice and neat it will not be a big deal for any one person.  There will be dozens of things to do at the guild facility each month.

bullet

If you are getting out tables or moving chairs you need to put them back before your group leaves.

bullet

If you change to a different attachment on a machine or something other than the normal set up, please return the machine & attachments to how it belongs.

bullet

If you see that a trash can is getting full, pull the bag & replace it with a new one, consolidate a couple of cans that are half full so we can get the trash out of the building weekly.

So this is how we can be like the Boy Scouts:  by leaving the KCWG facility better than the way we found it each time we are there.

Open Shop Times

Welcome to the Guild Shop! This month marks an anniversary of sorts. It was one year ago on the last week of February that we took possession of our new location and started building our nest to our liking. I can truly say "Man we have come a long way in a short year". The shop is up and running and we have more availability than ever before. Come on down and make some chips!

Thanks!

Safety orientation on the equipment,

Pass safety tests on the 11 machines we have and correct the wrong answers to 100%. The Safety Rules for the 11 machines and the test are located at: http://www.kcwoodworkersguild.org/Safety/Safety.htm

Sign a Wavier of Liability and turn it in during the Safety Orientation.

Also, you must (or upgrade to) a "Sawdust Maker" or "Woodworker Plus" membership to work in Open Shop on your own projects.

Your test answer sheet may be turned in at the Orientation Safety Training session, at a general membership meeting (to Kara Paris), or may be e-mailed to Training@kcwoodworkersguild.org.  The grading of the test will be done before the next general membership meeting. The tests can be corrected at that time.  The entire process to acquire your Green Name Tag to wear when using the shop will usually take at least a month.

Orientation Safety Training

Orientation Safety Training is for the members in the Guild that are planning on working in the shop with a Sawdust Marker or Woodworker Plus membership, or if you just want to work with the machines on a Guild sponsored project.  This training is about 2-1/2 hours of specifics of the machines in the KCWG shop.

If you would like to attend a Safety Orientation session, please notify John Johnson at johnsonje@bv.com and arrive 15 minutes early.  A confirmation note from John will not be sent.
