Ben Hobbs - Build a Pencil Post Bed Weekend Presentation

From his school and workshop in North Carolina, March 19, 20 and 21, 2010.

Ben will present a number of processes of value to any woodworker, no matter what the project or skill level.

choosing your wood,

bullet

 reading the grain of the wood, 

bullet

dealing with the defects in the wood,

bullet

choosing hardware,

bullet

layout and cutting mortise and tenons,

bullet

cutting tapers and chamfers. 

Ben will demonstrate the use of a number of  hand tools & techniques

 hand planes & shoulder planes,

bullet

chisels, scrapers, rasps, handsaws, and a host of other tools,

bullet

traditional techniques, and designs from the 18th century. 

Ben will also be demonstrating the use of  the bandsaw, jointer, table saw, drill press, and the hand held jigsaw.

This is a wonderful opportunity to try a wide array of hand tools and learn how great tools make your woodworking easier! Ongoing demonstrations for woodworkers at every level at interactive stations will help you learn valuable techniques. Ask questions of guest demonstrators and learn from some of the most skilled in the industry. Lie-Nielsen hand tools are available for purchase at this event!
