Demonstration of Wood Threading

Wood threading using a wooden threadbox (die) and steel tap.  Wood threads are a very inexpensive way to create workbench screws and vices as well as a number of other work holding and clamping tools.  In addition, almost anyone can create wood threads immediately with an affordable threadbox and tap with almost no practice.  A threadbox and tap kit cost under well under $50 from Woodcraft Supply and on eBay (new) and can save you hundreds of dollars over metal threaded devices.  Woodthreads run smooth and are a pleasure to use.  They are not at all fragile but are easy to repair should they become damaged through abuse.
