Visited your booth at the Woodworking Show at the OP International Trade Center last weekend. I'm new to woodworking but am interested in your group. I have had traumatic injury that has left me unable to do woodworking. I have good shop equipment for sale. Great prices, just want tools to be used. In your page of "Table Saw Safety Rules", item #10 (of the first 10) states that the blade should be only 1/8" to 1/4" above the stock. I too was taught that many years ago in school shop, and the table saw manufacturer's specifications seem to mirror that, too. However, couldn't that low height of the blade actually contribute to kick-back? With the blade that low, the edge of the rotating blade as it comes into contact with the work piece actually has a more horizontal force (towards the operator), than it would if it were raised up to its maximum height. At its maximum height, the leading edge of the rotating blade would now have more of a downward force (toward the table top) instead of toward the operator. Your comments? Thanks for your time. Pat.

In the mid-town area, there are left-overs from 3 large trees that were taken down. Two Walnuts and an Elm. The owner of the property is trying to get rid of the wood. I love to work with wood and build things. I have hand tools but I do not have the room for larger tools such as a table saw, Radial Arm Saw, etc. How I came across your website was by accident. I just purchased some Oak wood from the Amish and I wanted to build a dining room table. It was suggested by a member of your club that I contact you about a problem I currently have, with excess wood scraps that I have from many years of collecting. These are scraps of oak, walnut and poplar mainly. I am currently cleaning my shop and sorting and putting them in barrels. It is painful to send them off in weekly trash pickups. No charge. No looking through and selecting. One could make pens to that small piece you need. Barrels will be filled and ready to dump in a pick-up. David Windsor 913-838-6976. Going to join your club soon.

Hi, eric adler here, senior reporter at the kcstar. I'm calling because my son is an electric guitar player. He is 14 and is fast becoming interesyed in acquiring the skills to fashion his own electric guitars from various woods. I have no sill in the area.
