Guild Library

This is the place to find information about the Kansas City Woodworkers' Guild Library of Books & Videos.  This webpage as well as our Library is under development.  Stay tuned and watch us grow.

If you would like to submit a book review or short article for publication here about any of the books or tapes in our library please email to:  library@kcwoodworkersguild.org.

Below is a chart showing what kinds of materials were checked out of our Guild's library and in which month they were checked out.  Due to our move earlier this year the library was not up and running in our new shop until June, so that is why the chart starts then.

As you can tell from the chart, a number of our members have made good use of the library.  The chart also shows the variety of materials available to you.  In addition to the above we have a growing collection of catalogs.  The next time you are in the shop spend some time in our library.  Bring a cup of coffee and browse.

The Guild Library has a collection of plans.  They are divided into topics such as For Your Shop, For Children, Scrollsaw, Clocks, Kitchen, For The Outdoors and etc.  Please take a look at our plans collection the next time you are in the Shop.  Plans may be checked out at any time.  Checkout forms are in the Library.

Basic Box Making

Box Making

The author, Doug Stowe, is the woodworker from Hot Springs, Arkansas, who recently taught a course in box making at our Guild’s shop.  A number of members who took Doug’s course have since shown off their boxes at Show & Tell.

Members do not have to wait until a membership meeting to check materials out of our library.  A self-check system is in place – just look for the white wooden box in the library.  You may check out materials whenever you are in the shop.

With regard to our library’s electronic media, your library staff realizes that many people no longer play video tapes at home.  So, we are working on expanding our collection of DVD’s.  If you have any DVD’s you would like to donate just drop them off in the library the next time you come to the shop.
